Buying cardboard sturdy enough to make a box and then cutting it out will be more expensive and difficult than buying pre-made ones. They easily available at Michael's, cake decorating stores and most party supply stores.

You could try going to the bakery to ask for a empty cake box, break it down to use it as a tracing template. I hope this helps. good luck.
