The Wizard of Oz: L. Frank Baum I think

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (well the dog instigated the plot but didn't really do anything), Mark Haddon I think

Didn't Bill Clinton's dog write a book? What am I thinking of, here?

Here's some fairly comprehensive listings:

http://www.dogbooks.com/mys.htm

The two books I thought of that no one else has listed thus far are "Kazan the Wolf Dog" by James Oliver Curwood and the sequel, "Baree, Son of Kazan."

Pretty old books, written in the early nineteen hundreds. I enjoyed reading them; however, they never garnered as much critical acclaim as Londons's "Call of the Wild," etc.
