Since you like God of War, I'll recommend Devil May Cry 3, it is a great action title. Resident Evil 4 would also be a good choice, because even though it is a horror game, it's heavy on action and shooting. A good 3rd choice would be Shadow of the Colossus.

Katamari Damacy - it's strange, different and addictive. All you have to do is push this sticky ball, called a katamari, around the level picking up items. You'll start with small things like push pins and small candies. Soon you'll be rolling up the family cat...then the family...their car....their neighbor's house...the business district...the entire island they live on...and finally, the clouds.

Have you tried any RPGs?

FFX is pretty much your standard Final Fantasy RPG. Very pretty.

Kingdom Hearts is an action RPG. Join forces with Donald, Goofy, and several other familiar Disney and Final Fantasy characters as you try to find King Mickey and defeat the Heartless who are dissolving the heavens into black nothingness. It may sound childish at first, but really, the games are quite engrossing.

If Kingdom Hearts is too cutesy for you, check out Shadow Heart. Despite the similarity in name, these are nothing alike. Although Shadow Heart uses a more traditional turn-based combat system (with a twist!) the stories are definitely not child-like... Combining elements of Eastern and Western horror, set in the early 20th century, these games feature some pretty freaky monsters, violent scenes, and unforgettable characters.

Disgaea is a strategic RPG. Your characters are arranged like chess pieces on the board, and you take turns moving and attacking. Each character can choose a class which gives him different skills, spells, etc. In this story, you play Laharl, a boy demon who must reclaim his birthright as king of the underworld..assisted by a backstabbing 2nd in command, a confused angel who's out to assassinate you, and a host of other strange creatures - including Prinnies, who are small psychopathic penguins who explode when thrown (d00d!) One of the few games that doesn't just encourage cheap tricks - it just about REQUIRES you use them. Well, after all, you ARE playing a demon...

I can't stand racing games, but I like the Burnout games because you're rewarded for smashing into the other cars, causing mayhem, explosions, and huge pileups that would have impressed the stunt guys from CHiPs.

If you're a fan of those old Kung-Fu type movies, or Asian Period Dramas, you should check out the Dynasty Warrior and Samurai Warrior games. Play as a semi-historical figure during the feudal wars of China or Japan, as you take on armies of 1000s. As your character becomes more powerful, a single swing from his axe, sword or polearm will send dozens of footsoldiers flying. The games offer upwards of 60 different characters to play, spread amongst the different factions and armies that were vying to control the country. There are plenty of secrets and extra characters to unlock so you're encouraged to play through each character's story mode.
