Any number of things. But the most common are:

Trauma to the cervix
Tearing of the vaginal wall
Tearing of the perineum
Lack of lubrication
Vaginal infection

Any unexplained vaginal bleeding after intercourse should always be reported to and investigated by your doctor.

You could have what used to be known as a cervical erosion.... nothing to worry about, but get your man to be gentler.

If the bleeding is heavy, or you have a lot of pain, see your doctor, who can refer you to a women's health unit, if necessary

it could be a number of things, but if you have never bled after sex before, you should go and see your doctor just to get checked out. the same thing happened to me and it was called an ectropian on my cervix that had to be frozen off. so i would recommend that you go, and get it sorted so that you can rest easy. hope everthing goes well x

How long after? You may not be fully healed, OR if you've gone a very long time without sex, it's just your vagina stretching out again.
