My husband has a petrified turtle turd that I tied a plaid ribbon around. It's kinda heavy, so it's on the stronger branch. On the top he puts this creepy animated angel that reminds him of a little boy that died, from his old neighborhood. It's freaks me out. From the ceiling he hangs two wooden planes with teddy bears in them, I have no story for those, but I added a space shuttle on two strings from the ceiling to remind me of my dad and the job he had when I was growing up.

the pickle ornament:
Legendary Pickle Ornament
A pickle used as an ornament on the
Christmas tree seems odd at first, but
this is an old German tradition.
When decorating the Christmas tree, it
was a practice to hang the pickle ornament
last, hidden among the twigs. The first
child on Christmas Eve to find the
Christmas pickle ornament would receive
an extra gift.

It's not a tree ornament , but rather a Hummel figurine from 1933 Germany. It's a child singing and was my mothers favorite , of her collection, It had been glued together with contact cement after a fall from the hutch. After her death I took it to a jeweler to have it repaired properly. He repaired it to where you couldn't tell it had been damaged. Than I bought a replica of an old German clock (the ones under a crystal dome) and had the clock removed and the figurine mounted in it's place. It has survived countless move's and remaines on a lighted pedistal to this day in my living room. Did I mention , I'm almost 60, so it's been around a while.

I really don't like themed Christmas trees. Mine will be all different kinds of random ornaments once I decorate it. Its been up for over a week but I have put the stuff on it yet.

I have several that my children made when they were little. I couldn't tell you myself what they are at this point. My favorite ornament is a Santa Claus head that my dad carved from a 1 inch dowel rod. I make sure it is hanging in a place of honor every year. No one has to ask what it is, but it is a one of a kind that I wouldn't trade for anything.

I have a bunch of them from when the kids were small...but the 'funnest' one is a ball that chirps like a bird...REALLY LOUD. I've since given it to my son, and though my daughter-in-law realllllllllly loves me, she is not too enamored of that ornament, as my son INSISTS upon plugging it in to make the cat crazy...lol

Not so much what is it but more why do you hang that on your nice tree. It came from a gas station that was selling the whole set and one of them looks like the old gas pumps. Not cute but it does complete the set. Thanks for the recipe!!!

I bought an angel made out of okra at a craft fair. The lady who made it grows the okra, dries it, paints it white, etc. It is beautiful and if you look real close....you can tell it's okra.
