However, the things that can help get rid of the pain quicker include:

RICE - Rest Ice Compression Elevation

Pain Relief Medications
eg. NSAIDs like Ibuprofen
Paracetamol

See your doctor and ask about stronger pain relief medications if these don't work.

Then you need to get up and about and strengthen the muscles in that area. Swimming is a great way to do this, but again you might want to consult your doctor/physiotherapist about the best rehab for you.
