For my English class we have to pick a book that has something to do with the "American Dream." Most students in my class are doing Kite Runner, The Jungle, East of Eden, The Great Gatsby; I want to read something that no one else is going to read. What book would be different, but still meet the criteria?

A Raisin In the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry. But it was really a play. I bet nobody else in y our class will use it and if definitely is about the american dream, but in African American society.

hmmm...try "Brians Song". it may not be about making money and going from rags to riches, but it does teach the importance of tolerance and equality. it is written like a screen play (because it was originally a movie) so reading something like that is kinda tricky, but its a great book and i think you'll like it a lot.

'Bonfire of the Vanities' by Tom Wolfe. Very unpleasant.
