I have it so bad. I've been in the Emergency room my last three periods. Birth control pills didn't work and the pain is like having a baby. I'm also having my periods only about 17 days apart! Please let me know if any of you have experience with this condition. What can I do?

I have been dealing with endometriosis for 10 years and the things that help my endo stay in check is being on the pill so as to stop the periods, surgery (have to have it every so often to check the status of it), and a medication called Zoladex. I also go to a Pain Management doctor for another female problem but have had her help me with the pain from my endo in the time before I had surgery again last year.

Some women have done another medication called Lupron to try and help their endo. Some women do very good with this medication. Yet others have gone and had surgery with doctors that specialize in treating endometriosis surgically and do really good.

Others have also gone in to alternative therapies like Traditional Chinese Medication, dietary changes.

Some women do a combination of all including seeing a Pain Management doctor that has experience with chronic pain caused by gynecologic conditions such as endometriosis.

I belong to a group for women that have endometriosis that is so excellent for getting information. If you would like to know even more about this group please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

I had serious endo also. i know the pain you are in and i am so sorry. i had an endoscopy done to check for it and they also found ovarian cysts covering my left ovary. i was in pain for years from it all. i finally ended up having a total hysterectomy. i was only 29. luckily i had a child and knew i didn't want more. have not had a problem since. i know they now have a lot of different meds to try and help and control it. go to your gyn and talk to her. if she wont listen or doesnt seem to care, find a new one. good luck

I am sorry you are in so much pain. I have not experienced this personally, but a friend of mine was in her early 20's and had to have a hysterectomy.

Have you seen a specialist? ER doctors just focus on the immediate situation, not the long term treatment.

Good luck!

well, personally, my doctor told me my painful periods were caused by endometriosis. i was also having stomach problems and headaches so i went to another dr and they tested my allergies and i found out i am allergic to gluten. i stopped eating it and my periods improved dramatically. they still caused pain (couldnt work or get out of bed) so i started acupuncture and now i can literally get through my period without painkillers.

in short: if you havent been tested for endo, it might be something else.
try natural medicine like acupuncture.
