It's a mixed bag. I realiize it's just the thought that counts but it really bums me out when someone that I thought was a good friend gives me a really cheap gift or buys something really inappropriate. For example, I have a friend that likes slutty clothes and jewelry so she sometimes gives me trashy looking earrings or necklaces that I wouldn't wear even for Halloween. I think "Is she stupid or what?" because anybody that's every known me for more than a few hours could tell you I'd never wear the stuff she gives me.
On the other hand, I see it as a challenge to find NICE gifts that actually FIT the recipient. It makes my day when I can see from their face that I found something they really like.

Both.
I enjoy the fun, everyones merriment and visiting with my family, but I also dread it because IT COSTS SO MUCH!!
While that is depressing, the season is never boring for me.

I enjoy it and at sometime during the day I will feel sad, not to be able to see the rest of my family. They live too far away.
I will see my brother for awhile and have dinner with him.

I enjoy the season as it is supposed to be, a religious celebration, and not the 'commercialisation' as we see it nowadays.
Call me old fashioned. It comes with age.
