I'm hesitant to join in this fun.

1st. The poisonousness (If that's a word) is probably over-blown.
2nd. Any one can be allergic to anything, so it's possible a non-poisonous thing can be deadly to someone else, ex. peanuts.

That in mind, They can make you sick, or give you dermatitis, but the quantity is the question, specifically the ingestion to weight ratio. I don't think they're particularly dangerous. If they were that deadly, you'd probably know someone who died, or know a cat, first hand, that had been killed. Poinsettias are THE most popular Christmas flower.

Take it all with a grain of salt, be cautious, but that's all the more I'd be.

Good luck-

Unless your cat eats 50 pounds of leaves as this is what it takes. Even then it won't kill him, he may be down to 8 life's. Eating too much of anything can get you sick. So do not worry and enjoy the plant for the Holiday. Here is a little folk lore story from Mexico about Poinsettias. Pepe was a very poor young boy and one night he saw a shining star and decided to follow it. When he got to it he saw many wealthy people bringing gifts for the Baby laying in a manger. Since he had no gifts he reached over to the side of the road and picked a handful of weeds and when he laid them on the manger they turned a beautiful bright red (Poinsettias) This is why they are the flowers of Christmas. They are also called "Flor de La Noche" or Flower of The night Feliz Navidad

Yes. Specifically, it is the berries that are poisonous. They are dangerous for all small animals and children.
