As much as I love history and am involved in historical reenacting I would have to say that I would not choose anything other than the present. I like soap, indoor plumbing, cars, supermarkets, central heating and WIFI. I would have keeled over and died if I had to "rough it." I'm a spoiled, pasty soft person.

Assuming that this magical time machine would also come with the language skills needed, I'd like to spend a year in Alexandria with access to the great library prior to Caesar's conquest in 48 BCE.

I would be a well-off person in England in the Tudor times, because I play Tudor music in a tudor castle at the moment, and would love to play it and hear it played in the correct setting.

I would have like to be a rich person in Rome during the reign of Augustus, married to a person I loved.

However glamorous it may seem living in the past may not be at all pleasant. Imagine, without technology, internet, antibiotics ....... For me it is 2030 Brighton - with global warming !!
