I have PCOS and I am getting a laparoscopy to remove a cyst from my left ovary. I am also getting a D&C to remove some build up or something in the uterus. This is all happening on Thursday morning and my boss needs me to work sat night. I really need the money and its a call party ( I cater and they requested me) and if I say no i might be off for the rest of the season. I was wondering if anyone has had anything like this, what I should expect and how long recovery time is. Could I pull off working only 2 days later? Any insight on the precedure and recovery would be great. Thanks!!!

You'll need plenty of rest - so as soon as you are out of the hospital - straight to bed and rest. You may experience heavy bleeding afterwards from the D&C. You will also feel tummy tenderness after the lap... I have had both at the same time when I was 20 years old and extermley fit - (gym instructor) took more than a few days to recover. If you are in doubt - ask the consultant prior to the op. I'm sure that whoever was booking you will understand that your health is important and not hold this one occassion against you . Good Luck. x

You will need to have at least a few days off up to a week because even though this surgery is classified as minimally invasive because of the size of the incisions it is still major surgery.

The average time to recover from a laparoscopy is 1-2 weeks but depending on the kind of work done it can take longer.

Please talk to your doctor as well about how to handle the work situation.
