Ya know J.... I really, as a Yankee fan, am getting sick and tired of the Red Sox fans constantly complaining about the Yankee payroll. Being a woman of numbers and someone who analyzes everything to the max (no kidding- I do) I like to look at it with a twist, the Yankees have always spent... money money money, as the growth in payroll can be considered as linear with the Yankees, meaning a constant change, the Sox well, hate to say this, but their payroll has been exponential in growth. They have, in essence done EXACTLY what they have been whining and moaning about the Yankees for so many years doing.... BUYING (now hear my words Red Sox fans....) A (You still with me... I know its difficult, being challenged) CHAMPIONSHIP! (what a bunch of whining hypocrites) Sorry J I am going off on a tangent am I not? I am not condoning the mindless spending (keep in mind my football team is from a Small market) but in this day and age to complain about payroll from teams who are absolutely out of control ( my beloved baseball team included) from other teams who are as out of control, claims only hypocrisy in my mind

Ha Ha Ha! You are a very funny man.
First of all, let me state that I dont hate the yankee because of their payroll (that is a very lame excuse). I hate the yankees because they are arrogant, self centered egotistical frigging whinning little cry babies.
Second, since when are The Tigers "buying" anything? All of the moves they have made this winter has been through trades (unlike someone I know who has "bought" the 350 million dollar man).
Granted, those players are more expensive, but they will be worth it.
Third, I have been saying since day one, if mike ilitch ever got off his (insert several hundred cuss words here) and decided to invest BACK into his OTHER team (remember, he also owns the dead wings and cares more about them) then he would have a winner.
It is about time he started to pay attention to The Tigers. Those 12 long years of being under .500 (before 2006) have taken a toll on the fan base, and it's good to see he realizes that.
He told Dave to go ahead and do whatever it took to make The Tigers winners, and I applaud him for that.
If that means The Tigers have to spend money, then go right on ahead and spend spend spend.

If the Tigers win the World Series we won't have to provide any excuses. You provide excuses when you lose.
Georgie Porgie... I don't think Illitch cares more about the Wings than the Tigers. Remember he was a minor league Tiger's prospect when he was a kid. He just got the Wings sooner and turned them around before he bought the Tigers. I think he cares about the Tigers more now.

There is no need for an excuse. They have not bought the World Series if they win it, because they use their money wisely, and good teams use their money wisely.

No excuse. They won it getting great players along with the great players they already had and a good manager in Jim Leyland.

They won't have an excuse because all they added was a hitter and a pitcher who hasn't picthed well in two years and seems to have fading skills. This won't win them their division with Clevelands much tougher starting rotation and bullpen in that mix.
