Question about my dell GX270 freezing while loading xp?

I bought a off lease gx270. I also bought a xp oem disk. While loading the xp it goes so far into the load sequence and it freezes. Any Idea? did I get ripped off on the computer it does seem to work. any advice would really be appreciated. Should I format the harddrive to totally clean it up?

Call dell help at 1-800-www(999)-DELL-(3355) as long as you own the thing they will work with you FOR FREE mine you to fix this
