I think that they have disabled the sound by microphone????

Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag, ok. Select Sound tab. If sound card and driver details are there, test the sound. If no sound, it may have been set to mute. Disable mute. Check it by clicking on speaker icon at lower right tray.

If sound card and driver details are not there, you need to reinstall the driver. It should be in the drivers CD that came w/ PC. If gone, download a copy from PC maker's website.

This happens to me too sometimes. Hope this helps. If you don't have a speaker icon on your taskbar make sure one is there by doing this. Go to control panel and right click on sounds and it will show a menu saying Add shortcut to task bar or desktop...say yes.

Then right click on the speaker icon and you want to go to Play back devices tab. There you can test your settings. Also make sure the volume is turned up and that you have the speaker or mic in the correct slot.

A way to test your mic is to open sound recorder and record something. Then play it back. If you dont see bars moving (the equalizer bars) then you know the sound works but your speakers are most likely in the wrong hole.

Continue with trial and error keeping track of the holes you have tried already.

Get them to put it back then. Sound is simple - attach speakers (or use the internal speaker if you want to the sound in your computer's case). Next, make sure your OS supports the sound output device. Then pump up the volume!

go to start, control panel, sounds & audio devices, click on
volume control, volume, uncheck the mute box.
