Depends on the state. When I lived in Arizona, I had to have a forklift stamp on my driver's license. Here in New Mexico, they don't care who operates a forklift as long as you're big enough to see over the steering wheel to know where the tips of your forks are.

Join the Navy. Tell the squid recruiter you want to be in the supply and warehousing of all things Naval. You might even go to sea on ships designed to provision fleets underway in all weather conditions anywhere on the planet. This will get you a better job after service ends. Former President Richard Nixon did the same duties during WWII. It is where he learned to talk salty.
