Ingenuity is a Filipino's coping mechanism. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention.

Filipinos become much more ingenious because they need to make both ends meet. Thus, they fashion clothes out of old clothing materials, they use left-overs as ingredients to spice up the dish for the next meal, etc.

Ingenuity requires creativity. You need to create something from either nothing or from something else. Filipino housewives can win in an international competition on this subject.

A big "YES" to that.

While we were doing the access roads to the Riyadh Stadium, we were told that the final intersection has to be asphalted and cleaned in the next hour for a visit by Royalty.
But a broken down, abandoned car, was still on the side, and it was an eyesore. It would take some time to get bureaucracy moving, and a tow truck from the City to take it away. What the Philippine team did was, get a dozer to move the car in the deep cut in the center of the road, fill it up with earth, asphalted - and presto! No more eyesore!

Last I heard, the Indian guy who owned the car is still looking for it until now.

Well first of all, that sounds like a stereotype. Whether a bad one or good one, a stereotype is a stereotype.

But to answer your question, I don't know MOST Filipinos. However I think those jailed made famous for dancing the Thriller are insanely genius. First for learning the Thriller in a HUGE group setting, and second, for using their time productively instead of fighting and whatnot.

Anyone, no matter what nation or skin color or group, who can try to get along with other people to make the world a better place (even if they had bad times in their life) is a genius in my book.
