A volcano on La Palma in the Canary Islands has a crack on the westward face. If this volcano erupts, the whole of the mountainside will slip into the Atlantic Ocean. This will create a wave travelling at approx. 1000 mph towards the USA. At first Waves size will not be all that big, but when it hits the Continental self the wave will be destructive along the East coast of the USA. Boston would be hit first, then New York, all the way down to Miami. It is possible the wave could travel 20km inland.
But there are some who believe that this over exaggerated and that if the volcano did erupt, the amount of material that would fall in the sea would only create a wave 25km long and would dissipate. The argument of who is right goes on.

Probably about 20m at Florida. which by the way is not too bad; it'll be 50-100m at adjacent islands.
