To become a Knight of the round table and serve King Arthur. Sort of got side tracked for him falling for King Arthur's Queen and wife Queen Quinevere.

I was the same as all the other Knights of the Round Table: to find the Holy Grail.

"The recovery of the Holy Grail is the most noble goal any Christian knight could hope to achieve. The Grail contained the blood of Christ from where a spear pierced his side. It was brought to Britain by Joseph of Arimathea and buried in an unknown location where it has remained for centuries. This blog provides updates on how the knights are proceeding on their quest for the Grail."

Unfortunately, Lancelot was not pure enough in heart to find it.

But his son, Galahad, was, and he did.
