Here in the UK they have a department which replies to these letters if they can find an address. Nice idea.

I just posted this answer 15 minutes ago on another question so I'll repeat it for all here to know: First the woman that says all the letters that get sent out to "Santa" don't actually go anywhere is wrong. Just address it to "Santa Claus Office, Napapiiri. Since the 1950s, Santa has happily resided at Napapiiri, near Rovaniemi, at times other than Christmas, to meet children and the young at heart. By 1985 his visits to Napapiiri had become so regular that he established his own Santa Claus Office there. He comes there every day of the year to hear what children want for Christmas and to talk with children who have arrived from around the world. Santa Claus Village is also the location of Santa's main Post Office, which receives children's letters from the four corners of the world

They often send them to North Pole, Alaska. I'm not joking, I live about 400 miles south of North Pole, so I know. They send them to Santa's Workshop up there, and "Santa" (or one of his helpers) sends a letter and gift back to the child. They get thousands of letters every year. If you ever have the chance to visit that small town, although there isn't much to do, go. You'll be able to tell people you saw Santa's Workshop at the North Pole :)

When you have a letter you put a return address on it. Right? So when the letter is mailed to a non-real place, the letter is sent back to the mailer.

They of course deliver them to the North Pole. There Santa reads each and every one. Then the elves save them, and in October they have a huge bonfire where they roast weinies and marshmallows.
You didn't expect a real answer, did you?
