No, at Red Lobster we don't get free food. Staff may "take/steal" food that they can get their hands on (ex. salads, soup, dessert, baked potatoes). We get 50% off after/before our shift.

If there is a mistake made by a server keying in the wrong item or the kitchen made double something , we aren't allowed to eat it either. It's boxed up and saved then sent to some sort of charity thing.

I work at a privately owned fine dining restaurant in Oklahoma City. We get 50% off up to 4 people at any time. During the shift we are allowed to eat bread, soup, or any other random snacks the kitchen makes us. They also make us staff meals about 4 nights a week. Usually tacos or chimichangas that our non-English speaking kitchen friends make. It's great I rarely have to pay for food.

I don't get free food either, we get %50 off our meals, but can't have the more expensive items on the menu (ex. steak, ribs). If a mistake is made and food is extra and the manager is in a good mood they may give it to the staff but usually they just either eat it themselves (the managers eat for free) or throw it out!

I work at Outback Steakhouse and we get 50% off our meals. If we visit with friends the percentage goes down based on the number of entrees purchased.
As far as while working goes, we ALWAYS snack on bread, soups & salad. Sunday's management provides a free premeal while we have a meeting. Thats about it & personally thats fine by me.

Sometimes-I've got free food from certain cooks who I got along with-all the restaurants I've worked at; (Denny's, Village Inn, etc) the cooks are ordered to throw away any food that is cooked/prepared wrong, a mistake, sent back by customer-etc. (I've seen several steaks thrown away) anyways all the places I've worked, the food is half off.
