Chinese literature dates back thousands of years and has had a number of periods in which it flourished.

For example:

The Shih Ching (Book of Songs) written around 1000-700 BC; the great classic poetry of the Tang Dynasty; the great classical prose of the Tang Dynasty, the Song Dynasty and subsequent periods; and the modern period.

i've not heard much about the flourishing of chinese literature but if i had to guess i would say maybe about the time they wrote the Dream of the Red Chamber.
