Communism isn't just about economics, it's about social policy, and how people live.

Most Chinese live a very dreary life with little in the way of consumer goods. The only way this has changed is because China has now embraced capitalism, so people are now enjoying more discretionary income.

Communism is a complete fraud. It never works out the way the Party Bosses claim. It is never a "workers paradise". It does not create a "selfless man". Communism does exactly the opposite. It makes everyone poor, and has most people working in miserable jobs far below their abilities. Communism crushes the human spirit.

Communism is like some guy who gives the appearance of being a benevolent figure. Instead, you discover in horror that he is a perverted pedophile who wants to take indecent liberties with your children. He is a monster with a phony mask.

Communism is absolute slavery for the masses. The party bosses live like kings while the rest of the population is reduced to a third rate existence.

With Communism, in places like the previous incarnation of the USSR, everything was a lie, and for good measure they'd encircle your country with barbed wire and fences to keep you inside. You were trapped, you were told where you would live, what you would study in school, and would be assigned a job, perhaps one you absolutely detested.

To see the true, vile face of Communism, watch the movie, "Dark Blue World".

Actually, China is switching fairly quickly from Communism to Capitalism, like the US. All of this stuff about child labor and unfair treatment happens in every country at some point in time to move forward: just look at our industrial revolution, unions and capitalism grew out of it, so actually, China is doing so well because it is switching to capitalism.

Because we pay the hell out of them. We subsidize them so they are on the US welfare rolls as well. We send them aid of all sorts. We supply them with jobs. But....who really makes the money?
The workers are being exploited by American Companies doing business there. The gov't controls everything including aid of any kind. Very little of it makes it to their population.
If we are kicking out products everyday for having too much lead, what do you think is happening over there? Especially in the factories that produce the lead contaminates? I'd have to say that we are increasing their Army AND feeding it for them. In fact looking at it we ARE their main source. hmmm...US beneficiaries? Big companies not having to pay for labor over there. Motorala, Dell, steel industry of every sort, every single US based computer company, all of the toy companies and even some potable goods.

Because former #1 leader Deng Zhao Ping decided that Communist sytem was ruining China. Most of the population was not happy with Mao and system of Communal farms and no one could make any money to save. This was very upsetting to all the people.
Deng told us that it makes no difference what color the cat was...only that the cat caught mice! He was saying that it made no difference if the country was Red, but that the people made money!!!
So now most of China is Capitalist, and we are making lots of money. The people still remember Mao, but are glad his system of radical economic reforms is gone. Only some sectors of China still have government control, like television and the net and newspapers.
Communism was bad...and now it is gone!

China has mass poverty...they (media) only show their limited wealth to advance economic growth and encourage further investment from foreign countries (USA, etc.)...believe me...more people are starving in China than not.

Their people slave in rice patties, and are 1/2 starved to death. You call that doing well?
If the government is doing well, it's because they live off the back of their citizens without paying them too much for it.

It isn't. They make a lot of cheap plastic crap while most of them ride to work on a 1950s bike or work as subsistence rice farmers. They have a large manufacturing base but are not very prosperous outside the large centers of business.

How can anyone honestly defend communism? It is probably one of the worst things that has ever happened to humanity

Because the United States gave them our entire manufacturing base. Entire industries have been wiped out in the US. Obviously they have no polution standards, energy standards, labor standards, health standards, etc.

The Chinese running Communist China are doing very well. The majority of the population are not doing well at all. Most Chinese live below what we would call the poverty level.
