side of the laptop? Many people connect a mouse to their laptop (myself for one) and I have to plug it into the left side so the cord needs to hang across the back, front or top. Wouldn't it of seemed more clever to just put it on the right side for the majority of the population?
No offense to you left handed people.

Actually I would find them being on the right annoying. I'm right handed and the mouse is generally very close to the right side of the laptop. If the cords were there, I'd be hitting into the connector or the wiring more often.

If the port was on the right side, then on small work areas the USB plug would get in the way of the mouse or the mouse cable would get all bunched up.

But if you're worried about ergonomics why are you using a laptop in the first place?

The CD/DVD drive is usually on the right because it's easier for righties to change disks on that side.
