Northern hemisphere:
Farthest north -- summer solstice
Farthest south -- winter solstice

Southern hemisphere:
opposite of northern hemisphere.

Depends on your location.

If you're in Kansas the Sun appears farthest north in azimuth at sunrise and sunset sometime around the time of the summer solstice.

The Sun appears exactly south in azimuth at local apparent noon each day.
