Why are there people that still talk so much about the Civil War in the South? The Reconstruction period caused a lot of anger in the South. They were treated like less than Americans. They were punished severely in some cases.

Also, the Reconstruction helped create what the South is now. The increase in textiles and then commercial work that has made it fairly prosperous at this point came from the ways the South had to change after Reconstruction.
