You seem like a smart guy, so you already know the answer to your own question. Have you ever heard that when you seek advice, you already know the answer?
The process of giving up video games and turning to your books is not so difficult. It requires a change in the way you think, which can be hard by yourself if you don't know how to handle it. Example:
Suppose you're playing your favorite video game, but need to study for an exam next week. You probably are thinking, "man, I SHOULD work on my exam. Well, five more minutes." Five minutes passes..."I really SHOULD work on my exam....just a few more kills."
See where I'm going?
Instead, replace 'should' with 'want'. You change the whole motivation behind why you are stopping. When you 'want' to change, you have a direct goal...to do what you want. "I should wake up" means that I'm going to get another five hours of sleep, but when I say "I want to wake up", I roll out of bed feeling invigorated.
Also, it sounds like you might have unrealistic expectations of what is 'success'. It's called the actual-ideal conflict, and it can lead you into trouble - causing depression or anxiety (which you sound like you may already have). Write your goals down and make them realistic...when they're written down they are more concrete and you think through them more than if you have all of these great ideas floating around in your head.
If you want more tips, I suggest that you visit a school counselor or psychologist that practices cognitive therapy, that'll maximize your strides in learning how to change the way you think.

Don't start beating yourself up over the video games. The rest of the semester may get ugly but keep pushing until the final grades have been submitted. College is not a breeze for everyone but if you get your degree and a fulfilling career, it won't matter much how gracefully you navigated the academic phase of life.

Success and education are a good match. What's got you down such that you don't want to get there? Do you have a 'there' defined, at least in general? Have you researched/read about the people that are doing well at ? Does the school work make sense? Do you take social and physical breaks? Not together :-)
You're in charge of you - no one need give their approval...

Admission of a problem is the first step. Now....put down the controller and pick up the book. Its late in the semester and you are getting burnt out. You will have plenty of time after finals to veg out with video games during winter break.

It depends what your aims are - what degree standard you want... if you want to get a first then sell you console / PC right now and go to the library to study.. go to the library because it is much easier to concentrate there...I didn't study much... went drinking, playing games etc.. and I got a 2:2... If you want to get an average degree then carry on enjoying yourself... it is what most people do... then just study prpoerly for a few weeks before the exams... it is what most people do

Firstly- the hardest step- get rid of the video games, don't just put them away actually get rid of them and the console. Try taking up sports instead and you'll find that a studious mindset will come more naturally then.
Good luck!

How old are you. If you don't get your @$&@$ together, when you turn 35-40 you will find yourself making less than 18 bucks an hour. Look in your life, look at a person that did not make much for themselfs. Do you want to be this person?

Who's paying for your education? Your parents or is it scholarships and loans? Either way you better shape the hell up! How do you expect to repay the loans if you flunk out? Money still has to be repaid!
