The Florida Marlins are not good for baseball. They don't keep players, they don't try to win...
a) traded Dontrelle & Cabrera - replaced with kids who are 3-4 years away
b) fired Jack McKeon and Joe Girardi and replaced with a no-name puppet

It actually doesn't matter who has the highest payroll, the Yankees can have a 900 million dollar payroll while the Marlins have a 1 million dollar payroll. The most important thing is which team gets the World Series Title. A team with the lowest payroll can win the World Series, take a look at the Rockies (they didn't win, but...they got there) nobody would have thought that this team would have made it to the World Series with its low payroll.
So, the bottom line is...The Payroll doesn't count, but the World Series Title is the main thing.

Both are terrible, and it is this iniquitous balance in Major League Baseball that kills the pleasure of baseball for most other franchises. The Yankees have shown over the years they will over-pay for anyone they wish. This frives up the market value for all players, especially the greedy and over-pumped middle-of-the-road players. As well, Johan Santana may very well command $150 million in his next contract, and how many franchises could handle that? SO then you get these franchises who cannot help but give up - the Expos, the Marlins (they've done it now 3 times!) and the Twins, or so it seems. How else do you account for the fact that they traded Luis Castillo to the Mets for 2 bags of dirt, they let Torii Hunter go (because they could not afford him) and they are now considering trading Johan Santana. How long did it take for the Rockies to start to unwind from this World Series? How the Brewers, Royals and Astros do it is way beyond me. Something will have to give here, because it is us, the fans who suffer, pay for all this mediocrity on the field, and will continue to pay for this shoddy state of affairs.

Easy the Marlins. Reason being is the Yanks are spending their money. The Marlins dont spend all of their share on revenue sharing on payroll. So they have money left over before they even sell one ticket. Would not hold that against them is the team was more willing to help with a new stadium.

The Marlin's 10-million dollar payroll. I mean honestly, good players make more than 10 million a year. The whole marlins team only makes 10 mil, that's pretty pathetic.

If you want to have a winning team for your fans than a $10 million payroll is by far the worst of the two scenarios.

I don't see why people make a big deal about the Yankees payroll, if your team could afford all the stars, why not? I sure as hell am happy my Padres are spending more money this season. (Greg Maddux $10 million, Jake Peavy Contract Extension $18 million/year, and they're going after Fukudome and are close to resignin Milton Bradley who played really good for us.)

Payroll wise, if you have the money, spend it. Rodriguez will get payed 30 million next year. HA. Marlins payroll is pathetic.

The Marlins.
At least the Yankees are at least trying to put a good product on the field. The Marlins' owner is simply trying to line his pockets. I think they make enough money off of revenue sharing to cover that payroll.

Definitely the Yankees. They have not won a World Series title since 2000 and have lost two World Series (2001 to Arizona in seven games and 2003 to Florida in six games).
Steinbrenner spends money like water and no matter what team he puts together, they still can't win World Series #27.
