Okay, we've been ttc and this morning I was really sick (throwing up) so I took a hpt (it's 4 days before my period, and it was early response) and after 1 minute I threw it away and went to class, but when I got home I pulled it out of the garbage because I was still nauseous and wanted to make sure there wasn't two lines....and there was!! I saw a faint positive.........I'm going to take another test as soon as I can force myself to pee, but do you think it could be positive? I threw it away after only a minute so it's possible that it didn't finish developing until a few minutes later and a positive will last 24 hours. But do you think that it was only positive because it had been so long and not because I'm really pregnant? Please help. I can't take the waiting! I'm very anxious and excited, but I'm afraid to be disappointed! Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, what happened? Were you really pregnant?

I had this same thing happen to me... I took a test on New Years Eve and when it was negative I threw it in my friends trash. Well much later that night she calls and says its a positive now and I better test again. I waited til Monday morning and bought the two pack peed on them both. I grabbed a friend(lol I was at work) and made her look at them to make sure what I was seeing..It was POSITIVE. So test again!!!

Take another test and be patient and wait the time it tells you to wait. There is no way to be certain that this positive is not because of the elapsed time or because you are pregnant.
Follow these easy instructions for best results using home pregnancy tests:
The first morning urine is the ideal sample for accurate home pregnancy results.
Remember not to drink large volumes of water before sleeping or during the night. This will dilute the urine sample that you have to collect in the morning. Also it is advisable to hold your urine for a while before testing for pregnancy.
Be sure to read all the instructions on the home pregnancy tests and follow them to the letter.
Be alert and do not interpret the test results after the allotted test "Reaction Time". These are usually incorrect results.
Whether you are using the dip test or the stream test, you must use precision. For best results, allow sufficient urine saturation of the test strip or midstream tip as per test instructions. Also pay attention that the liquid does not touch the test area (where you read results). For test strips, do not dip the strip below the submersion marker or arrow line. For midstream tests, hold the test so the test area (window) is facing away from your stream of urine.
Avoid "Evaporation Lines" by reading test results within the allotted reaction time before they can be formed.
If you are taking medications, especially fertility medications, consult your physicians to make sure that they do not interfere with pregnancy test results. The only medications that can cause a false positive on a home pregnancy test are those than contain hCG itself.

You need to read it within 3 min or so , read on the packet it will tell you ! A faint positive is a Positive BUT only if it was with in the time frame that the test says NO LONGER !
We cannot tell you and I certainly do not want to get your hopes up , you need to take another test , you dont need to pee much id be drinking loads of water if i were you ! :)

I have had it happen before after months of trying to get preganant only to be disappointed. So I would wait till you miss your cycle and then use your first morning pee and try again. This will ensure a true reading. If you get a yes, schedule an appt with an OB/GYN they can take an ultrasound to also confirm.
Good Luck

The best way to find out is by taking another test. It is very likely that you are, because your urine absorbed onto the pregnacy test and it probably read how it was suppose to. Just take another test and you should take your time ok. I have had friends who have taken tests and it comes out that they are, then they go to the doctor and they aren't!! So, try the test again and if you are get cheked with the doc. to make sure.

You should read the pamphlet inside the box. I know that my brand said after 5 minutes, or maybe 10, I forget, that you should not read the results because they are not accurate.
But who knows, take another test in a few days just in case, it was kind of early, good luck!

it is possible you are pregnant, but they can show a false positive after they have been sitting a long time. take another and if it doesn't turn positive within the amount of time it says on the box, you may want to wait a few days, maybe until your period is late, and try again. good luck!

There is no way to know. I remember when i took my pregnancy test with my daughter, (I was only 2 weeks pregnant) and it took a while for the positive to show at the doctors office. She had come in and told me I was NOT pregnant, then goes out, comes back in holding my pregnancy test, and says to me, it changed.
A few years went by and I had a pregnancy scare, and took a test. It came up negative and I threw it away. My daughter got it out of the trash and brought it to me, and it had CHANGED.
Come to find out, I wasn't pregnant that time after all.
Drink a lot of water, and take another test.

I would take another one, same situation happened to me it was positive after like three hours, and I was not pregnant, so taking another test would be a good idea.

they say not to read them after 10 minutes, however, mine have never changed! i have got them out of the trash & checked. (wishful thinking)! i also still have the test from my first child in my hope chest. she will be 10 in feb & it still says the same! i know is sound strang. but i had a misscarriage before her. wait untill morning & retake it. since it was faint, it will not probily show up after you have drank alot of stuff. good luck! :)
