i'm reposting this, because i forgot to include some important information

My current GPA is 3.4, with 14 credits

this past term (fall, the one thats currently ending) i had some medical issues, and was out of school for a little over a week. so i feel preety far behind.

i'v talked to my teachers and what not, about extra credit, and they've been helpfull, but i still think i won't do as well.

one of my classes i'll probably get a C, and the other, a D. i just fell way too far behind, and couldn't catch up, even with the extra credit, and its too late to withdraw/drop the class

with 14 credits, how far would you guys think my GPA would drop?

so to sum up....

-i'm a freshman
-i'm finishing up my 2nd term
-my school runs on the quarter system (summer,fall,winter,spring)
-i have 14 credits under my belt
-i'm finishing up these 2 classes
-one is worth 4 credits, the other is worth 3
-one is giving me a C, the other a D

with that info, how far do you think my GPA will drop?

yes, i know my gpa wont matter, and that one bad term is nothing to worry about. but i'd like to know how my gpa will be effected, but the real question is by how much?

also, what would happen, if instead i got a D, i got a F? i know i wouldn't get the credit, but how about the gpa?

It's not a matter of how far anyone "thinks" it will drop - it's math. ☺

it depends a bit whether the C is in the 4 hour or 3 hour class. Let's assume equality and you have a 1.5 for the semester on 7 hours.

((14 * 3.4) + (7 * 1.5)) / (14+7)
(47.6 + 10.5) / 21
2.767

Worse case, you take an F in that 4 hour class and a C in the 3 hour. You get a .428 GPA on the semester.

47.6 + 2.996 / 21
2.409

So, you can estimate that you're about to fall to somewhere around a 2.5 GPA as a result of these two classes.

Careful with the advice you get about not worrying about grades early on -- it's much easier to damage your GPA when you have few hours than later when you have 100. Right now, each class you've taken is about 1/9 of your GPA. By the time you graduate with a BA, each class is only 1/20 of your GPA. For this reason, freshmen must be much more careful than upperclassmen in protecting that average.

well i go to school at und and
4=a
3=b
2=c
1=d
so you take your 3.4 and add 2 for the c and 1 for the d and divade by 3, which gives you a 2.1333 average with those two grades which would give you c good luck.....
