But seriously - an easy target by whom? Not Beeching, obviously. And to think, witness the hype of St Pancreas (saint of children) station a few weeks ago. Why is there such a love/hate thing with the choo-choos?

Car owners pay for the roads 5 times over .. it's about time Train passengers paid for the railways 5 times over.. when that happens the railways will have sufficient income to run a decent service .. (on the other hand it's going to take a lot of extra Train passengers to get back the £800 million just spent tarting up St. Pancras, let alone the £4+ billion spent on the new high speed link)

It will also be necessary to stop having hysterics when a few accidents happen .. car accidents kill 3,000+ every year .. if we applied the same standards to rail travel we could all stop fussing about a few suicidal idiots playing on the tracks or jumping the lights at the level crossings ...

I now that if someone throws themselves in front of a van on the M25, they sweep 'em up and within 20 minutes you would never know it happened

if someone throws themselves in front of the 8.05am at Goodmayes station, you will be lucky if the return journey at 6.48pm isnt seriously disrupted because of it
