Here are some things you may consider taking with you in your car in the winter;
A properly inflated spare tire, wheel wrench and tripod-type jack
A shovel
Jumper cables
Tow and tire chains
A bag of salt or cat litter
Tool kit
Working flashlight and extra batteries
Reflective triangles and brightly-colored cloth
Compass
First aid kit
Exterior windshield cleaner
Ice scraper and snow brush
Wooden stick matches in a waterproof container
Scissors and string/cord
Non-perishable, high energy foods like unsalted canned nuts, dried fruits, and hard candy
In addition, if you are driving long distances under cold, snowy, and icy conditions, you should also carry supplies to keep you warm, such as heavy woolen mittens, socks, a cap, and blankets.

An Ice scraper with a long handle
jumper cables
Ropes and chain (so that you can be pulled from a ditch)
A blanket
An extra pair of gloves
Extra socks
Road flares (if you're hardcore about safety)
Hot Hands hot packs, if you, god forbid, crash into a snow bank, or it's late at night, and you go off the road, these you can put in your gloves and boots to help keep your fingers and toes warm.
Most of all, carry your cell phone on you at all times, and make sure it's charged. MAke sure that your cell phone is enabled for 911 tracing, so that if you call 911 they can track your phone.
Cheers

The color of your car shouldn't be white. Enough snow over it the snow plows can't see you. We have a few casualties every winter. Keep a cell phone, call for help, a blanket , in case you can't get your car running, i assume it won't if you are stuck at the side of the road. A flare burning outside, is also a good idea, someone might be able to see that. A gallon of water, even if it freezes, remember snow cones. Just don't eat the yellow snow!!

A hammer. If you break down, smack and perverted helpers on the head. A spade. Bury him. A blanket. Good for you under shock! A sledge. Keeps the kids amused while you wait for a lift. Ear plugs. Incase the kids are impatient with waiting. Most important, any fluids to keep the inside of your stomach warm. A map - incase you get lost.

Blankets, for warmth in case your car breaks down or you get stranded. For the last couple of years in my area we have had motorists stranded on the Thruway for an extremely long time.
Extra clothes in case you get wet and cold.
Gloves
First Aide Kit
Some food, easy keeping stuff, last year motorist were on the Tway for 8 to 10 hours.
Phone Charger for vehicle
Ice Scraper
Tow Rope in case you slide off the road or get stuck. Tow Ropes are nice if you get in offer to be pulled out.
Jumper Cables

I was recently caught in in-climate weather and not at all prepared. Here is what I wish I had in my car:
Snow boots and heavy socks(leave some in your car),a product that melts ice(better than gritty kitty), heavy duty gloves(other than your fashion gloves), long snow brush/scraper.
Some extras that could be helpful: fix-a-flat, battery charger, granola bar, and a blanket. Murphy's Law says that you will be down to the last bar on your cell... So, something to boost that too!

Snow chains...
Gallon of rough salt, large rocks, or gravel (for putting under your wheels if they ever get stuck...)
Shovel, to shovel your way out if you are stuck, or to move some ice out of the way... (I have been stuck in the snow, and I wish that I had a shovel with me!)
Flash light....
Keep some extra gasoline in a gas container in your trunk, make sure it is tightly secured so it doesn't shift around when you are driving...
If you are ever stuck in the snow overnight, you will need these things!
cans of food, can opener, blankets, emergency phone, boots, extra coats, flares, knife, and tampons,,,, cause you never know!

hello, u should keep a brush to brush off your windshield with & it should have an ice scraper at the other end to scrape off the ice u have on your winshield & back window & also for all of your windows u have on your car also u should have some ice remover spray so it will immediately melt the ice on any part of your car. maybe some gloves too just in case u leave in a hurry. an unbrella would be handy to have also. oh ya, some kind of reflection of lights to put around your car in case u brake down at night time. this is just a personal thing i think everybody should have is a roadside help service which any of your credit cards have for you to join in case u don't have like for instance, in Mass. we have triple A for our emergancies for cars. also Triple A has alot of other benefits too for their clients. but just in case u live elsewhere any of your credit cards offer this same coverage for roadside assistance. good luck & i hope that i was helpful to u? bb, Merry Christmas, nobrethequeen

I keep a blanket, jumper cables, maybe some candy if I can keep from eating it. Always try to keep your cell phone charged if you have one. Keep air in your spire dummy tire and all the necessary tools to change a flat. Maybe program your phone with emergency numbers. I'm sure I'm missing something but you'll think of some things I'm sure. Have a great Holiday
