In Elementary school it seemed like we gave everybody a little gift for X-mas. There were only 1 or 2 teachers she had. How about High School teachers? My daughter has a teacher for every subject, plus clubs. Do we give them all a gift? Or is it not common anymore in high school to give everybody a gift. What do you do, how do you handle gift giving to teachers????

you're right, in high school, there are too many teachers to buy for, so don't buy for any! or buy only for your child's favorite one or two teachers, that's it!! the rest can get a nice card, or maybe if you have the money, a dunkin donuts gift card worth five or ten dollars! that's it!!

I remember it being less common to give all of the teachers a gift in high school. I remember giving a gift to the teachers that meant the most to me as a way to show appreciation for all the hard work that they do. Some teachers go above and beyond and deserve a reward for it.

Usually high school teachers dont get gifts unless they did something that really was over the top for a student to help them in school.

Mine never did, regardless of whether it was public or private school. All the teachers in my private elementary/middle school did though.

If you want to and can afford to, then do so. Or just buy for their favorite teachers and give everyone else a card. It's not required or even done anymore at that age.

Elementary schools here are a little different these days. My daughter has 5 teachers. They begin classroom rotation a little earlier! My son has 7 teachers - he is in the 7th grade. I went to Starbucks and got twelve $5.00 gift cards, and I am going to make four loaves of homemade pumpkin bread. I will cut them up into smaller pieces and package them in those really cute Christmas decorated chinese to-go boxes. I put the pumpkin bread inside ziploc bags, in case anyone else wants to do this. Keeps the bread pieces fresh and in tact.

High school, in Ontario, Canada, had (has?) 'home room' classes - generally the first classroom of the day, where announcements are given, etc. 1 present for the first teacher of the day would be suitable, but the trend was about 10% of my classmates brought gifts.

in high school...not really.
ask her what she wants to do or see if she has a favorite teacher she would like to give something to.

its not that common in high school to give gifts to teachers so if she doesnt want to, dont push her to.

if she does give a gift, some people in my school will get their favorite teacher like a christmas card, or a flower, or even like a starbucks gift card for like 5 bucks.

its really not a bad idea...it'll get her some brownie points and possibly some extra credit!

merry christmas! ♥

The majority of HS students do not get their teachers a gift. If your child has one or two favorites, a small token is a nice gesture.
