Are you talking about Nostradamus? His predictions are made of vague quatrains that can pretty much be made to fit anything if you look hard enough.

End Of Earth 2014

What your friend says is almost certainly wrong. The world was supposed to end in 1000, 1666, 1736, 1832, several different times between 1850 and 1950 according to Jehovah's Witnesses, 2000, 2003, 2012 and now 2014. And there were other times as well.

This person who predicted 9 -11. Where in the name of all that is wonderful is there a record, made before 9-11, of him predicting it? If there is such a record this person would be at least as famous as David Beckham or Paris Hilton. But he isn't. Why? Because there is no record of his prediction that predated the attack. That means he is either a fool or a fraud.

I dare you to click on the link below and read at least some of the material.

Why should it end? If the Arctic ice melts because of Global Warming, than that would be completely the fault of the human race. If we're going to get hit by a meteor, than... well the chances of a meteor destroying the entire Earth are slim.
There's no real reason why the world should end- especially as soon as 2014. The thing we do need to worry about is saving the Rainforest, the North Pole, and reducing oil consumption. We'll run out of oil soon - it's a nonrenewable resource. If we let the North Pole melt, it's wipe out the Polar Bears, not to mention cause some pretty extreme flash- flooding. If we keep destroying the Rainforest, it'll be gone in a matter of years - which means that many animal species will become extinct, and we'll lose a lot of trees - which produce oxygen that Humans - not to mention every mammal on Earth - need to survive. If we can stop destroying our world, I don't see why the world would be threatened at all.

Well, at least this is a new one.
2014.

Since there are plenty of people who know other people who have heard that perhaps somebody else told them that a friend of the second assistant to the drive-thru window attendant told them that the world will end on (fill in your favorite date here), we'll wait for more information.

Seriously.

What guy?
Who predicted what?
What kind of attack (and how will it "end" Earth?)
How have you determined that all he said was true?
Alternatively, what information would allow us to accept that all he said could have been true?

Several ancient civilizations predicted that the world would end in 2012. The Mayan calendar ends abruptly in December 2012.

I think Montel Williams did a show about this, and the psychic he had one said that she didn't think it was going to be a literal end to the world, but that the way we live was going to change drastically.

What is the world? In my book it is the entire cosmos, and that will never end, since time and space is seemingly eternal and infinite. If you are talking in terms of just the Earth, it will still be around as long as the sun is still here (with or without people living on it), until it gets sucked into a black hole when the sun collapses in on itself, which will not be for billions of years from now. As far as the human species is concerned, we will be around until A) A giant asteroid(s) or comet(s) slams into us, B) We are eradicated by space aliens, C) Global warming kills us all --hah D) We destroy ourselves with nuclear weapons of mass destruction, or E) The Biblical prophesized Rapture and 7 years subsequent Battle of Armageddon occurs in which God triumphs over Satan and his non-believers (which would likely be billions of people by the implied definitions). Oh yeah, I forgot F) A massive plague wipes us out that we have no cure for.

It's Dec 21, 2012, per the Mayan calendar, if you believe in that stuff.

And "the guy" was Nostradamus, and his predictions weren't exactly like "The twin towers in NYC will be destroyed be terrorists flying airplanes", they were written so that you didn't know the exact event until after the fact... Meaning that sooner or later his "predictions" will fit some current day event.
