I have been trying to get pregnant for the past 6 months and have had no luck. Last month I was 3 wks late on starting my period, then it came but just a little each day, but it has lasted for the past 2 weeks. I am having pains in lower abdomen. No other symptons other than that?

Have you taken a HPT? You may want to take one just to be sure. If it makes you feel any better, it took me and my husband 3 1/2 years to get pregnant the natural way. I was also told that only 85% of women get pregnant the first year they try. You may want to make an appt with the doc just to be sure there's no other issues going on. They can do a few simple tests to start with just to make sure! Good luck.

They say on average it takes up to 12 months to conceive. If you haven't done so in 12 months then you need to see your doctor and have some tests done to find out if you can get pregnant. Good luck and keep trying....that's half the fun!

Sounds like you don't have regular periods or you aren't ovulating. Any # of reasons for infertility. Depending on your age you may want to go see your gyno and talk with them. Though if you are still in your 20's they may want you to come back in a year with an ovulation chart after keeping track of your basal temp.

Track your basal temp ( if you are not already doing that) to find out when you are ovulating. If you are under 30, most docs won't do anything to help until a year has passed (unless there is evidence or a family history of certain problems).

The average american couple under the age of 30 takes a year to conceive.

If you missed a period and are not pregnant, then there is a possibility that you aren't ovulating regularly. Time to see a fertility doc to check your ovaries and hormones, as well as your man's sperm for abnormalities.

You might have a fibroid tumor blocking an overy. Check with your OB/GYN and they will do an ultrasound to find out.
