Sending a card or a gift, and calling them on the day of and letting them know that you are thinking of them

Send them a card with a photo. Send a gift. I've send gifts from Cheryl & Co that were popular. Give them a call.

I don't know why there are a lot of thumbs down with these answers. Why?

Talking to someone is a great way to show that you care. I wouldn't bring it up, since you're alone for the holidays. Maybe it's their choice? Maybe family isn't near by?
Ask them if they are alone for the holidays? Ask about friends or neighbors? Maybe you can find out who they are and call them to see if they could invite the person? I think most people would want to invite someone that would otherwise be alone. I was in this situation. This guy I was seeing would not allow me to alone for Christmas so he took me to see his family. It was so nice. My family was up north and I didn't have the time off from work. I didn't have time to fly.

If you feel you are not close enough to visit them, get chatting to them and ask if they would like a visit over the holidays. You might be surprised by the response.

Send a tape of you singing happy songs. Or telling stories. Playing piano or kazoo.
Write a little note and enclose a photo of you having fun!
Keep in touch. Holidays are not the only time.

Show up and spend it with them!

And if you can't. How about sending them flowers or some other delivery. So that it's a nice surprise that reminds them of you.

To be even more creative, you could send some gifts, each something very small. But send them all separately and on different days.

A card and a gift are always nice. Be sure to call if you can. Hearing someone's voice and being able to talk for a while is a wonderful way to tell them you care and that you miss them.

Send them a truly thoughtful gift. Call them. Send them a 100 minute calling card so they can call someone they love -- maybe you! If you really care, send them a plane ticket so they can spend the holidays with you and your family.

Send a holiday care package with a nice mug with hot chocolate or specialty coffee, a Christmas ornament or two, some microwave popcorn and a special Christmas movie...and whatever else you can think of

Invite him/her to come and share the holidays with you.

i was gonna say visit, lol, often. since not close enough, maybe send a card every couple of days and a couple of calls. the season stretched out for some of us and several contacts are much better than just one.

Send them a card or gift, and phone them.

Or better yet, just do whatever you have to do either to visit them or to bring them to you, regardless of the distance.

Love will find a way.
