I live in Massachusetts. Does anyone know labor laws or point me in the right direction to find the laws myself?

Yes, if you are temporary, they do not have to keep you under any circumstances. They can get rid of you any time they want to, for any reason.

Good Luck!!

If you are a "contractor," then you have the right to come and go as you please. The employer can not even legally demand what hours you are there. That is what defines a contractor. However, they can terminate your employment without any notice for any reason because a contractor does not fall under all of the laws an employee does.

Perhaps you can meet your employer half way and schedule an appointment that does not conflict with your work schedule or make an arrangement to come in on a day off and make up the work. You might even consider taking half a day instead of the whole day. After all it is just a doctors appointment, it shouldn't take all day. Call your doctor's office ahead of time and let them know of your situation so they can get you in and out of there a little faster.

As a temp you have very little rights. You can be fired for ANY reason. It is probably considered an attendance issue. Especially if you are a short term temp. You only have so many days to complete the contract. Double check with the dapartment of labor in Mass.

You should always attempt to schedule personal appointments during non-work hours.

They light be able to, but it seems harsh, heartless, and just unfair. If you are a decent, hardworking (ableit temp), human being, maybe they could show some compassion and excuse you, granted you get them a written doctor's statement during your visit.

If you're a jerkoff and you're going to call in to go play Halo 3 with your buddies all day, I'd say you're SOL.

Even with my employer, we have very tight restricitons on using our accrued vacation time, so people are here to run the show.

Dont know your state's laws, but I'm sure its legal. Most states are "employment at will" states, and a temp employee has very few rights.

Not sure if that is a right to work state or not, but usually and unfortunatly there is nothing you can do when you are a temp employee.

Unless you are under contract or labor union protection, they can let you go for any reason they choose that isn't based on a discriminatory practice.
