My husband used to smoke weed very much before we got married. He says that he is not doing it anymore. Do you think that is why I have not been able to get pregnant?

Have him get a sperm count done at his doctors this will tell for sure. Sperm has been shown to be affected by continual pot smoking. See article below.

Smoking cannabis does affect sperm count and sperm motility, however there may be other factors affecting your failure to conceive.

Get your husband to consult his GP, he may recomend a sperm count from a sample, as given after a vasectomy.

At least it will be one variable out of the way, and you can then look at other possible causes.

If you want to read more about the effects of cannabis, check the following site, I wish you both well.

it can reduce the sperm count, but doesn't always.
and it isn't permanent, if he's not been smoking for a while then it wouldn't be a factor. (i can't remember how long it takes for the sperm to completely be replaced, i think it's only a few days, but that has to be after everything is out of his system, which can take a month or so)

not to mention, i know of a few "pot heads" (multiple times a day users) that have a bunch of kids... so it's not a guarantee that it will do a thing.

Probably. Weed also kills brain cells and does other damage. Make sure he never touches the stuff again. Remind him that every penny spent on illegal substances goes into the pockets of criminals and fuels crime.

Why not ask the doctor if he can have a fertility test and also a blood test to see if he still has any toxins in his blood that may be damaging the sperm. Meanwhile I would delay conceiving until you're sure the sperm is healthy so as not to have a baby that will have problems.

yes it does make your sperm count lower I've heard. I used to think that is why I couldn't get pregnant because my husband smokes, but I am 28 weeks pregnant so I guess it didn't affect it. It did take 4 years to get prego though.

Yes it can lower his sperm count but I believe if it's gonna happen it will weather he smokes or not. What about all these people out here who are on crack or are alcoholics or do other drugs and are still getting pregnant. I just believe if it's meant it will happen.

Could be. Smoking weed can cause sperm to be slower among other many things. If you try for a year and don't get pg you will need to see a fertility doctor
