Hi i will move to SF by march 2008 (date not 100% sure ) and because it will be by myself i can not rent an apartment so i'm gonna start renting a room somewhere and of course with good and respectful people... I would like to know if $2000 could be enought to give this big step??
About work i can not worry about it..cuz i just gonna ask for a transfer where i'm right now.
Is it difficult to someone that never has lived by her own to rent a room??
Pleaseeee give me all advices you can..negatives and positives everything please!!

Advices? Try to find nice roommates in nice area, for example, in pacific height, marina area, you may pay $800 to $1000 for just a room. Some may ask you first, last and deposit, and your credit report, living reference and employ verification, and sign an agreement, and you don't have parking space, street parking only.

Everything is negotiable. Move to SF, and stay in some motels or low cost resident hotel for $200 to $300 per week, and look around, most roommates need face to face, so active, easy going and sense of humor is important.

SF is one of the most expensive areas to live, even in the suburbs where I live you cannot get a nice single family home under 1.2 million. You might be able to find someone who would let you stay with them, but it will be hard since living in SF isn't cheap. Around the city prices really do range in different areas. Wishing you the best of luck with your move!

SF has the highest rent in the area (nation?). After you pay rent, there is not much left of your paycheck.

You may want to reconsider. It is even cheaper in Daly City

I have regretted my move into SF for many years and can not wait until I can move.

$2000 might get you into a room, as the potential roommate will probably want first/last/deposit.
