This is possibly the best answer ever:
People know the list: Virginia Tech saw 32 murdered earlier this year; the Columbine High School shooting left 13 murdered in 1999; Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, had 23 who were fatally shot by a deranged man in 1991; and a McDonald's in Southern California had 21 people shot dead by an unemployed security guard in 1984.
All these attacks — indeed, all attacks involving more than a small number of people being killed — happened in gun-free zones.
In recent years, similar attacks have occurred across the world, including in Australia, France, Germany and Britain. Do all these countries lack enough gun-control laws? Hardly. The reverse is more accurate.
The law-abiding, not criminals, are obeying the rules. Disarming the victims simply means that the killers have less to fear. As Wednesday's attack demonstrated yet again, police are important, but they almost always arrive at the crime scene after the crime has occurred.
The longer it takes for someone to arrive on the scene with a gun, the more people who will be harmed by such an attack.
Most people understand that guns deter criminals. If a killer were stalking your family, would you feel safer putting a sign out front announcing, "This Home Is a Gun-Free Zone"? But that is what the Westroads Mall did.

You know i get so tired of hearing people how have no idea what they r talking about. First guns don't kill people, people do. I have lots of guns and not one of the (save for a few that are from WW2) have ever killed anyone. My carry pistol has in fact (and yes my wife and I have ccw's in Washington state) stopped at least 2 would be criminals with out ever coming out of it's holster. Also the only way a person can legally on a FULLY AUTOMATIC weapon is to 1) live in a state that will let you. 2) apply for a class 3 firearms license through the FBI. So no you can't just walk into a gun and knife show and walk out with a FULLY AUTOMATIC AK 47, and if u do ATF will be waiting for you at the door. I have no belief that any of this will cange the minds of any of the antigun crazies out there but my hope is that it will help open the eye's of the people out there who beleive everything the media tells them about guns and crime. We have back ground checks in place to stop crimianls from walking into a store and bying guns, so they don't they go else where to get them. The Brady bill did nothing to stim crime. All it did was make it harder for people to buy guns legally. Lets not for get the area in the U S with one of the highest murder rates Wahington D.C. and you can't even own a hand gun there. Any one owning a long gun in D.C. has to store it in a none firing condition. But that doesn't stop crimianls now does it. So no I don't think guns should be illegal I think we should kill all the people on death row.

I believe that we focus too much on legalizing and illegalizing everything. We need to keep in mind that we have seen very few positives when it comes to illegalizing stuff. Look at drugs, do people stop using them because they are illegal? NO! We need to look at the reason behind the problems in order to come up with objective opinions. If we illegalize guns, this will not stop people from having them. Bad people will still have them, and decent, law-abiding people will not and they will be unprotected against the bad guys. On the other hand, have you ever seen a study researching why Americans are so violent? I think it’s amazing how arrogant we have become. We try to blame everyone but ourselves for the crap that happens here. It is very seldom that we accept responsibility for our own actions.

No, no, NO! Our nation's forefathers were wise to include the right to bear arms so prominently in the Constitution, partly in the event that We the People might have to bear arms against our tyrannical government. Yes, I know that criminals use guns to intimidate, terrorize, wound and kill people. But good people also own and use guns for hunting and for personal protection. Making guns illegal would just take them away from the good people, or turn them into criminals too in a fashion. And criminals don't give two figs about the law anyway, so who'd we be stopping there by making all guns illegal? No, as a matter of fact, I think more good people should carry guns. I'm getting one as soon as I can afford to.

The world can make as many rules and regulations they like but if guns are available and the technology is there someone will use it to carry on making money out of weapons because humans hate each other if they don't have the same views as them, or the greed in crime gives criminals the feeling of power with a gun in their hand.

It is far too easy to get a gun in the U.S. Anyone can get a gun, including psychos, and that will keep leading to situations like what just happened in that mall in Omaha. And yes, guns kill people. There's no way that guy could have killed 8 people if he'd just been armed with a knife.

Not for law abiding citizen's. It seems all the bad guys have all the weapons, a good example is the latest mall shooting, had one of those shoppers had a concealed carry weapon he could've saved alot of lives.

No, If guns were illegal only criminals would have guns. No one would be able to defend themselves from the criminals. In my opinion violent crime would drop if more people were allowed to carry guns because the criminals would have more fear robbing someone because they are more likely to get shot.
