In my math class, we're having a debate if pandas eat bamboo chutes or shoots. A friend of mine said it was schute, but I don't think that's right. I think it's chute. What is the correct spelling?

Chute is something akin to a slide e.g. water chute/water slide

Shoot can either be relating to a plant (bamboo shoot; the shoots grow in spring) or can mean to pull the trigger on a gun.

The right spelling is shoot.
A chute is something used for loading, a 3 side box type ramp (cattle) or round to half round for grain, sand and the like.

Shoot - to put forth (buds, branches, etc.), as a plant.

Chute - an inclined channel, as a trough, tube, or shaft, for conveying water, grain, coal, etc., to a lower level.

So the correct answer is "shoot"
