The technology is there to use other fuel sources.

In South America they are using ethanol which is corn based.

Also wind power is a good energy source.

Someone is also developing a car that runs off of Magnets. And a rechargeable generator.

Some studies are also being done with Bio-Degradable as a fuel source.

But the Oil Companies are very powerful, and they are hindering the advancement of other technologies.

End of life as we know it. No heating, travel, manufacturing. Riots, robbery, chaos. Markets crash, banks fail, millionaires become paupers. War would be imminent.

Major nations would need to act quickly. China, Russia and USA would all work to counter each others position. A three way division would develop as WWIII begins to take effect. US, UK, Australia and Japan would be in one corner. China and Muslim nations would likely develop as the first set of US adversaries. Russia would either negotiate or simply take Europe, becoming the third major player.

The best way for a quick end, to save precious resources, would be nuclear confrontation. A short wait before it is determined that he who strikes first may be the only survivor.

We'd be tapping our own reserve. And you'd see the fastest alternate fuel come on the market that you've ever seen. Automobiles and fuel as we know it would be a thing of the past. America has always survived and made things better.
