Apparently so.
To Bush apologists, "Dittoheads," and other chickenhawk neoconservatives, a "phony soldier" is member of the armed forces that actually is not afraid to speak his or her own mind to criticize Bush's political stance and who acknowledges the utter failures of the current occupation.
To me, the phony soldiers are those neocon chickenhawks and keyboard commandos who steadfastly support sending others into war and CLAIMED to have served but yet, never experienced the burdens and horrors of actual combat themselves.

Republicans view anyone who does not support George W. Bush as a fake soldier.
I used to be in the military, and there are plenty who are currently serving, who do not buy into George W. Bush's philosophies.

Anyone who makes false claims that they served in the military would qualify as a fake soldier. Joining the military and failing to even make it past boot camp hardly qualifies as military service, and definitely doesn't qualify one to speak about military matters.

If you're referring to the "phony soldier" story that was months ago, it referred to persons who Claimed to be soldiers or exaggerated their position or experiences to fraudulently make claims that the war effort in Iraq was doing illegal acts or atrocities.
An Arab who changed their name to J. Macbeth washed out of boot camp after 14 days and claimed to have been in special forces in Iraq with a group that murdered children. All of his claims were false.

That's a stupid comment, but what else would one expect from a leftist?
A fake soldier is a someone who poses as a soldier or who claims to be a veteran or whatnot, without it being true.
No Republican or conservative has ever called someone a "fake" soldier simply because they disagree with us. That's simply another lie typical of the left. They have to lie about everything, it seems.

I've got a whole bucket full of them. They are all green plastic. Some are shooting their guns, while others are in the prone position looking for the enemy. I especially like the little tanks.

This is someone who claimed gone to Iraq, and he did not gone to Iraq or actually been a soldier. This person tells a pack of lies about what is going on in Iraq.
This is who Rush was referring to. The Democrats decided to smear Rush because this fake soldier was one of their own corny.
