hi, i have found alot of articles about how to format and reinstall windows but i just want to format windows n use another OS so how do i wipe xp out of my pc.???? sugestions, answers, coments.

You Cannot totally "wipe out" your xp without formatting the hard drive. there's no such thing as "windows formatting" where you can format only the "windows part" and leave everything alone, and if you install another OS (let say vista) in your existing windows xp, all the registry, dll, etc. will still be there. so thats it. I recommend back up all your files, then format hard drive and install another OS.. etc.

You actually have to format the hard drive, it wipes everything off the hard drive. Whatever operating system you are using, use that formating rather than Windows.
Are you trying to install Vista? If yes, put dvd into the drive, reboot computer, when it starts up and asks you that there is a previous install of Windows and do you want format the hard drive or not. Say I want to delete the previous install of Windows and install the new one for a clean build. Which entitles formating the hard drive.

First, what window are you planning on installing? Well, I would assume that you are trying to install Vista. If it's Vista, then you can put in the Vista disk, and then follow the direction on there and you will be fine. Or you can put in your XP cd and then delete all the partition in your hard drive. Then install another window using the other window cd.

you can format with a windows disk, and you dont have to reinstall. or get something like kill disk, there are many out there.
