This sounds exactly like I am living the same life as you are; regarding telephone conversations. I have never been a great person to spend a great deal of time on the phone, especially if it is just "chit chat" type conversation. I have explained this to a lot of people, and most have understood this, and the ones that have not and have just chosen to be offended, I just have to monitor the calls (yay caller ID) or I have to keep the daily communication on the email level. I have certain friends who I know I will have to set aside 15 to 20 minutes for once we are on the phone. Some people can be a bit self centered about this, and can talk on no matter what. I have had to come right out and bluntly tell people that my dog is begging to go out (true); I have to go to the bathroom (true) or I have to get ready for an appointment (only a tiny white lie- may be a bit later than I say it is- but it saves the day!). I am currently working from home and studying for my Masters Degree, and some people just do not understand that I have allotted time, just as they do. This also seems to be the curse of stay-home parents, from what I have been told. People just think that they have nothing to do all day, and are just lounging around watching soaps and eating candy.... I guess that some of this just revolves around todays self- centered society. I hope this helps. Have a good day!!

I usually end a phone conversation with take care goodbye if I'm at the office. Friends and family get Luv ya, ciao, adios or adeus depending on who I'm talking to. My family members are either British, Italian, Spanish, or Portuguese.

Bye bye. I never knew I said it like that until my spouse pointed it out to me. I say "Bye Bye, I love you" to my family and close friends. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow and I want them to know I loved them. You never know.
