Odom has talent and size but you never know which Odom is going to show up from game to game. I am a Lakers fan that doesn't believe the Lakers can ever win with Odom.

Odom is a guy that surprisingly enough still has potential despite having been in the league for years.
He constantly shows glimpses of greatness whenever he's allowed to be the focal point of an offense. When Wade was a rookie, Odom was tremendous because he was the focal point. When Bryant was injured, Odom took over and showed more aggressiveness.
He'll probably never get to display his greatness unless he can be sent to a team where he can be the #1 guy.

A great player who could be Pippen to Kobe, but for some reason it doesn't quite work that way. Odom's fault? Kobe's fault? Phil Jackson's fault? But isn't that what the Lakers saw in him...shows you how great Pippen was. I don't think he had better skills than Odom, but he got it (or was given it) and he ran with it. Odom looks confused many nights.

I think he's got all the talent in the world, but is not mentally tough.
When he puts his mind to it, he can take over a game. The Lakers have been waiting for him to live up to his potential, and he seems to wilt under the pressure.
He struggles with being deferrential to Kobe, and getiing his share.
He's a complete player, but never really seems to fit anywhere he's played. I can only point to the mental aspect for a reason.
As a Laker fan, I've seen enough. They should have kept Butler.

he lacks confidence and brains, oh and heart
hes like the lion, the tinman and the scarecrow all in one.
u can have the best body in the world but if u lack mental toughness, the ability to LEARN (thats important because after all these years i have not seen him make any new moves) he'll never be a champion
i dont see kobe winning a title with lamar, hes too stupid. he needs to go
edit: to the girl Green below me. you say people were fans of the lakers because they were popular. you said you lived in LA and now a Detroit Fan. was it because detroit beat LA in the finals??? LOL talk about people liking the lakers when they were popular. dude u are just another casual fan who just likes a team when they win. you arent a real fan because if you were, you would stick with your team even when they lose. fans like you give NBA fans a BAD NAME!@! ur the type of fan who boo's derek fisher for leaving the jazz to treat his daughters cancer!!!! u should just move to utah!!!! LA doesnt want you!

I used to be a BIG Lakers fan but now they stink and now I perfer the Detroit Pistons(even if I live in L.A.)!!! Lamar isn't like the WORSE player but he isn't the BEST!!! I mean, at least he's better than other players like Luke Walton and those other "not good players but just want to be on the Lakers cuz they're a popular team"!!! I mean, his average points per year to me seemed to drop but he looks like he gives in a great amount of effort unlike those other guys!!!! I mean, if you saw the game on 12/4/07 with the Timberwolves and the game on 12/5/07 with the Denver Nuggets, some of the guys don't even want to try to at least shoot a basket. Whenever someone gives like Luke or Chris Mihm the ball, they just pass the dang ball right back to the person who gave them the dang ball!!!! At least they should try to shoot it not just avoid the ball!!!! Lamar is okay but some of the other guys should get fired(and I don't care about their contracts)!!!! Oh, and Kobe should be on another team, IMAO!!! Oh well, I am not the owner of the Lakers!!! :P

I think he's a great player, but he's never really shown the ability to step up and be "the man". I think the NBA has taken a toll on his body. He's just a shell of the outrageous potential he showed at Rhode Island. All in all, I don't think he's good enough to be a legit second guy to Kobe's superstar abilities.
