Are chicken eggs chicken's periods?

Exactly. The eggs being released is the chicken ovulating and making the egg leave the body. Just like a period but their cycle is only 24 hours or so. Cool, huh?

A lot of people think that hens need a rooster to lay eggs but this explains why that is not so. A hen only needs a rooster to fertilize the egg. Only then could a chick be produced.

When we eat eggs from the grocery store (or from your own hens with no rooster around) we are NOT eating anything that could have ever become a chick. So don't ever feel guilty eating eggs. :)
