My company is going through some restructuring, and some people are losing their jobs. There are some metros in my office, but none of them are affected.

Are they protected by HR laws? When the time comes to give a promotion, is it possible that I will get passed over by somebody who is no more qualified than me, just because they are a metrosexual and it would look better for my company's diversity profile?

It is contingent upon the amount of personality mirroring they perform on a daily basis. I know very well about this situation, and I am not sure if it can be properly dealt with.

The boss probably does not even know what a metrosexual is. The people who are keeping their jobs are probably the ones who do a good job, are the smartest, and dress for success. The term metrosexual will not be found in any diversity file, etc. If you put forth as much effort into your job as you do into worrying about people who dress nice and take care of themselves then you should have no problem getting promoted.

Usually, they're not. Some companies have policies where they can't discriminate against homosexuals or in this case metrosexuals, but most companies still do not have those policies. You should check to see what your company's policy is. In your case, though, you wouldn't be passed over just because someone was metrosexual. That's not what the discrimination laws mean (except Affirmative Action). They could not discriminate against you or the other person based on sexuality. Your company could not pass HIM up for promotion just because of his sexuality, but could if he was not qualified....same for you and everyone else in the company.

Maybe it's because the metrosexuals aren't breaking the company's dress code. Those guys love to get dressed up.

Wow, you have have been given a rather unfavorable view of your pal. besides no longer all women are like that. It easily has to do with their menstrual/ ovulation cycle. whilst a woman is ovulating she is plenty greater probable to be interested in manlier adult males because of the fact he has greater testosterone and would desire to father greater healthy babies. whilst a woman is on her era she is greater interested in softer finding adult males because of the fact she's no longer in her duplicate cycle. besides it always relies upon on the adulthood of the girl. i'm interested in each style of seems in a guy. i've got had crushes on the two Orlando Bloom and Gerard Butler. My first boyfriend had a soul-patch! So while you're going after the immature ones then shave and take a check out to be like a Jonas brother.

Yes, I can attest to that. Companies love people that don't want to look sloppy all the time, like most men do.
