I'm with you. I could never sleep when the baby did during the day. I've never been a napper anyways.
I was absolutely exhausted as well in the mornings... but I have to say just when I was about to completely fall apart, my baby started sleeping longer stretches at night so it wasn't too bad. Well, at the time I was exhausted, but looking back it doesn't seem as bad. Now that my youngest is three I realize it was kidn of a short time. :)
Good luck!

Don't fret...this will not go on forever. I PROMISE!! I have 4 children, all of which kept me up all night long, and I'm the same as you I could never nap when they were napping. Especially not with more than one child. You will make it. Your sweet baby will eventually start sleeping for longer stretches, until ultimately he or she will sleep through the whole night! I know it's hard to believe it will ever happen, but I assure you it will. My youngest is now 5 months, and has been sleeping through the night for a month now, but at about 2 months, he started getting up only once through the night.

I don't sleep well during the day either but in the beginning, I took naps whenever I could. I usually passed out from exhaustion when my baby was sleeping. I made my bedroom dark and got a warm blanket to help me sleep. Good luck!

Perhaps you could involve yourself in a relaxing activity while your baby is sleeping. This would allow your mind to take a break from being on constant overdrive and maybe even help you realx to the point of napping! Maybe take a warm bath versus a shower to rest your body. You could cuddle up in a blanket in bed and read a book! These are just examples!

I suggest that when your baby naps, you do too. Even if you don't actually sleep, lay down and close your eyes. Make sure you are comforatable and put a blanket over you to keep you warm
Your body will get used to taking advantage of this down time. You might never actually fall asleep, but you will be a little more rested when you get up.

dont worry about it i know it seems like you will never get to sleep a good sleep again but trust me, you will..i was never able to fall asleep during the day while my daughter was sleeping either, no biggy, just go to bed early at night when he goes down, if you find you really need to get some sleep, ask a loved one to watch him for a few hours while you take a quick nap, im sure they will be more than happy to help. it does get better :)

I know exactly what you mean. I love to sleep it is just impossible to sleep while baby sleeps, how do you get anything done?! Also my son's father tries to be nice and will take our son to go visit his grandparents so I can nap. Well I can't sleep without knowing that my son is at home!

I never get to sleep either. I'm either cleaning house, doing laundry or taking care of my other 2 children. My son is 7 weeks tomorrow.

I could never sleep either. I just felt very sleep deprived for a long time. I wanted some time to myself to breath more than I wanted more sleep.

keep trying, it is a huge adjustment welcoming the new one, sorry you are so tired but it just takes time, try to force yourself to lay down with no distractions in the day when baby naps
