they try to convince us that we have freedom of speech but sometimes violations are given for the stupidest reasons, many of which don`t even make sense. Sometimes i feel like they don`t want us to think a certain way...that there is some big boss guy sitting in a dark room somewhere wearing a mask and trying to elminate certain thought processes from people`s minds. perhaps yahoo is all a big experiment and we are the unsuspecting bait

i am not talking about violations received for terrible things like admitting to being a pedofile etc. i am talking about perfectly logical and acceptable thoughts and ideas that are expressed. as i mentioned in the little ramble above. i understand that certain content is unacceptable and offensive and that content needs to be filtered. but some violations are handed out for expressing logical points of view that are shared by a majority of people. comments about the government and desired changes in government seem to make them uncomfortable.

that's a really interesting way of thinking. it's exactly like that now that i think of it.
SurfJunk: How can you say that? If anything, Yahoo! is extremely liberal. I'm not saying whether I support one side or the other, but Y! is nowhere near supporting a republican agenda...what with all their attempts to make everyone "politically correct" and forcing global warming on everybody...

No it is just a machine pre-programmed to weed out certain words, delete questions automatically after so many complaints (right or wrong) and boot people off after so many automatic complaints that aren't researched for validity (not enough staff to research or check into any appeals where the machine made a mistake)...plus it is a free service which means NO customer service pretty much the deal.
My old level 7 account was deleted for no reason given with no violation notices and no warnings. I had 29% best answers and was a top ten answerer in 3 categories. Forget about getting answers or appealing. They don't care. On the appeals page, half the appeals are not answered at all and the rest are given an answer to the tune of well you did this or that so it was justified. To even appeal you have to have an account, which you don't have when they have nuked your account. You would have to open a new account which is impossible with the old information and if you open a new account and appeal and tell them what your old account was, they would probably just nuke your new account also without reason. They said I would have to get a lawyer's subpoena to find out why I was nuked. NICE PEOPLE...

Not a dictatorship, a burocracy without control. Violation are given to a whim of the users: they allow users to monitor the system and find violation, but they don't bother about checking out, and delations are dealt in an anonymous way. So, everyone feels entitled to write violation tickets for people they want to piss off, and Y!A cannot check the truth of every alleged accusation...

Well I wouldn't put it nearly that darkly, your on the right track. There is a big boss guy or several of them that can very well choose to eliminate any question, answer,or member that they don't like.Look at Myspace.Several of the people who kicked Tom (the creator of myspace) off their friend's list ended up having their accounts revoked with no apparent reason.

actually, I believe the opposite. Y!A is like an absolute democracy with no limitations or consequences (with the exception of cussing or hate mongering the second of which I see all the time anyway). I feel the end product is one that overwhelmingly expresses ignorance, bigotry, and blind stupidity. I find all this very depressing and hope that this is not indicative of humanity as a whole.

They wear dark suits and live on potato chips. Their keyboards are full of soda pop and grease. I pictured the female ones with long camel hair on their legs and private parts. Yahoo has designed an implant that they have to wear and of course they vote Republican and read the bible twice per day.

There are some really sick people on this site, racist people, a guy admitted to sexually abusing his little sister and another guy was a pedophile, just to name a few. Your freedom of speech ends where the respect of others begins, think about that.

Not necessarily unstable, just quirky, on again, off again.
(OK, guess that is sort of the definition of unstable...so, Yes.)
Trying to bow to the pressures of a minority, to curb the
expressions of a majority with regard to "Political Correctness"
Logic seems to have little to do with it, and it's probably an algorithm (ironically enough)

They suspend people for no good reasons, that is for sure. I had a level 7 account suspended, and you would have thought I had earned a little respect from the Yahoo Police for that level of accomplishment.
